If you’re curious about how to become a Werewolf in The Elder Scrolls Online, you’re in the right place. Becoming a Werewolf, also known as Lycanthropy or Sanies Lupinus, can offer your character unique abilities, but the process of transformation can be a bit tricky. This guide will walk you through the different methods of acquiring lycanthropy and provide you with the most efficient way to achieve it.

To start your journey as a Werewolf, you must first become infected with Lycanthropy. Once you’ve contracted the disease, you’ll need to complete a quest to transform fully and gain the powers associated with being a Werewolf. The process is straightforward, but there are several ways to get infected. We’ll cover all three options and help you decide which is best for you.

1. Crown Store Method to Become a Werewolf

The simplest, but most costly, way to become a Werewolf is to purchase the transformation from the Crown Store. This method costs 1,500 Crowns when not on sale. While it is the most direct option, we generally do not recommend this approach. Though it’s certainly convenient, it is an expensive route when compared to others that are either free or involve minimal effort and gold. If you’re looking for the most budget-friendly and immersive way to become a Werewolf, we suggest exploring the other methods.

2. Infection from Werewolf NPCs Method

Another method for becoming a Werewolf is to get infected by one of the Werewolf NPCs found in certain locations around Tamriel. There are three primary areas where you can find these NPCs: Bangkorai, The Rift, and Reaper’s March. However, it’s important to know that these NPCs appear only at specific times. They can only infect you during the full moon, and they only spawn at night. Once you are infected, you’ll need to visit a nearby Wayshrine and start the quest Hircine’s Gift, which will guide you through the transformation process. After completing this quest, you will officially become a Werewolf. While this method can be a bit more unpredictable due to the timing of NPC appearances, it is another valid option for those who want to avoid spending Crowns.

3. Infection from Other Players Method (Recommended)

The most recommended and reliable way to become a Werewolf in ESO is by being infected by another player. If you are not part of a guild or don’t know any players who can bite you, you can simply ask in zone chat in major cities or the regions where Werewolf shrines are located. Many players are willing to infect others, often for free, though some may charge a small fee, usually a few thousand gold. To successfully receive the bite, the player who is giving the infection must have the Bloodmoon passive ability unlocked in their Werewolf skill line. Additionally, they must bite you next to a Werewolf shrine for the infection to take hold. Once bitten, you can proceed with the Hircine’s Gift quest, which, when completed, grants you the full abilities of a Werewolf. This method is the quickest and easiest, especially since you can usually find a player willing to help you in a short amount of time.

There are several ways to become a Werewolf in The Elder Scrolls Online, with the option to purchase it through the Crown Store, get infected by NPCs during specific times, or be bitten by another player. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, but the player infection method tends to be the most efficient and cost-effective. Once you’ve contracted Lycanthropy and completed the necessary quest, you’ll unlock the Werewolf skill line and gain access to powerful new abilities that will enhance your gameplay experience.
